Denver Halloween: Mile High Haunts

Looking for things to do in Denver for Halloween? Get ready for a spectacularly spooky October. Explore an eight-acre corn maze. Hear tales of Victorian horror. Take the kids trick or treating at the Denver Zoo or the Children’s Museum of Denver. Roam the streets of Downtown Denver with hundreds of zombies!

HALLOWEEN ACTIVITIES FOR KIDS

COLORADO’S COOLEST CORN MAZE

WHEN: Every Friday, Saturday and Sunday | September 18-November 1, 2015
WHERE: Denver Botanic Gardens at Chatfield

Get lost at this year’s Denver Botanic Gardens at Chatfield‘s eight-acre Corn Maze, one of the most attended corn mazes in the country. Wind your way through acres of corn in search of Farmer Green’s lost animals, view the design from two 15-foot tall illuminated bridges that overlook the giant Corn Maze, and watch the delight as younger children find their way through a special free mini-maze designed just for them. Hayrides, a giant jump pillow and pony rides will be available for an additional cost. An array of food vendors will offer some of your favorite fall foods, including freshly squeezed lemonade, funnel cakes, hotdogs and kettle corn. And don’t forget to come out during Pumpkin Fest to pick the perfect jack-o-lantern from the gardens’ 10-acre patch.

TRICK OR TREAT TRAIN

WHEN: October 31, 2015
WHERE: Colorado Railroad Museum

Ride the rails back in time through Railroad Halloween Town at the Colorado Railroad Museum. Catch a ride behind the historic locomotive in vintage passenger cars hosted by conductors and engineers in full costume. The Trick or Treat Train departs every 30 minutes between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. Visit all the Town’s special stops to fill your treat bag and tickle your funny bones. Visit the “not so spooky” haunted railcar or the Olde Railroaders silly graveyard. Get a picture of your costume as you pause for a photo in the Pumpkin Patch.

TRICK OR TREAT STREET

WHERE: Children’s Museum of Denver

Don your favorite costume and head to the Children’s Museum of Denver for a trick-or-treating adventure bursting with fun! Parade from one Treat House to the next collecting goodies, crafting classic Halloween creatures and whipping up delicious Dirty Desserts. Activities included with museum admission.

BOO AT THE ZOO

WHEN: October 25-26, 2015
WHERE: Denver Zoo

The annual Boo At The Zoo at the Denver Zoo offers more than 25 trick-or-treat stations, creepy crawly animal demonstrations and exciting family-friendly entertainment under the canopy of the beautiful fall foliage of the Denver Zoo. Activities free with zoo admission.

GHOULISHLY FUN HALLOWEEN EVENTS AND ACTIVITIES

ELITCH GARDENS: FRIGHT FEST

WHERE: Elitch Gardens Theme & Amusement Park  

Once the sun goes down, Elitch Gardens Theme & Water Park is transformed from a theme park to a scream park. During the day, little ones squeal in glee over the free candy on the Trick or Treat Trail. At night, the park is taken over by a Zombie Apocalypse, with chills and shrills lurking around every corner. Free with regular admission, this popular event is a great way to get into the Halloween spirit!

HAUNTED FIELD OF SCREAMS

The Haunted Field of Screams is Denver’s largest haunted attraction, with over 35 acres of frighting cornfield and three unique attractions. Located just 15 minutes from downtown Denver, the Haunted Field of Screams provides the most unique and bone-­chilling experience in the area. Take your scare to the max and check out all three haunts: Haunted Field of Screams, Dead Man’s Night Maze and Zombie Paintball Massacre.

VICTORIAN HORRORS XXII AT THE MOLLY BROWN HOUSE MUSEUM

At the Molly Brown House Museum, costumed actors will bring to life tales of terror from such masters of Victorian gothic literature as Edgar Allan Poe, HG Wells and Mary Shelley. Come for the first time, or come again for a fresh set of terrifying tales!

THE 13TH FLOOR HAUNTED HOUSE

WHEN: September 18 – November 14, 2015
WHERE: 4120 Brighton Blvd.

Hailed by Fangoria Magazine as “the #1 scariest haunted attraction in the U.S.,” the 13th Floor Haunted House takes guests through a frightening tour of horror. Brave guests will learn just why the 13th floor is so often omitted from building plans – if they make it through to tell the tale. GHOSTS IN THE GARDENS

Denver Botanic Gardens dares you to join them after dark! At the annual Ghosts in the Gardens Tours, guides will lead you through one of three separate ghost tours of your choosing. Each tour guide will tell haunting stories of the Gardens’ one hundred years of history and illustrate points of interest inside and outside what used to be called “The Boneyard”.

SKELETONS IN THE WARDROBE TEA

Enjoy Victorian tea service and delve into Victorian Halloween traditions, costumes and games at the suitably spooky and quite possibly haunted Molly Brown House. Tea served at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m.

DENVER HALLOWEEN COSTUME BALL

An unlimited open bar all night, $1,000 ‘Best of The Ball’ Halloween costume contest, live Halloween entertainment and great DJs. What more could you want for Halloween?
